You can choose between an “all-in-one” or hydrogen peroxide solution. With the latter a built-in neutraliser is provided, to prevent stinging or injury to your eyes. This neutralisation process last comparatively long – which means the lenses must be left in cleaning solution overnight. Here further cleaning of the surface is essential, because deposits are disinfected but not removed. A saline solution is recommended to remove all traces of deposits. Other types of contact lens cleaning products are known as multipurpose, or all-in-one, solutions. With these solutions the whole process is made a lot easier: cleaning, disinfecting, neutralising, storing and lubricating can all be carried out with just one product!

A common problem with contact lenses is usually protein deposits collecting on the lens surface. These deposits must be carefully removed using a surface cleaning produc. A few drops on the bank of the hand before massaging into the lens is sufficient. Of course, clean your hands thoroughly when taking care of your contact lenses. Rigid and more robust soft contact lenses can also be rubbed with cleaning solution between two fingers, and then rinsed with a saline solution. For those who find cleaning by hand too much bother, special “no rub” solutions are also available.
