During the course of a day, various deposits such as dust, pollen and dirt accumulate on your contact lenses. Make-up or creams that get into your eyes can also cloud your vision. For good eyesight and a safe, comfortable lens, lenses need to be cleaned regularly. Even in between, rewetting is often beneficial. There are various contact lens care products available for this purpose, which are used depending on the type of lens and personal requirements.
All-in-one solutions, systems for hard and soft lenses or peroxide systems: which contact lens care product is right for you depends on what type of contact lenses you wear, how intensive the cleaning should be and how much effort you want to put into it. The cleaning of your contact lenses is essential for your wearing comfort and prevents irritation and inflammation. Not only do dust, pollen or sand deposit on the lens, but the tear film also leaves behind protein deposits that can permanently impair your vision. Depending on the type of contact lenses, cleaning is done in a special container or simply in the storage box of your lenses. Ideally you should clean your lenses overnight. This gives the contact lens care products enough time to develop their full effectiveness.
Especially for annual lenses, which have a long life span, peroxide systems are ideal. They are available in various forms, including one- and two-stage systems as well as those that work with one tablet to neutralise the solution. Peroxide systems need time for cleaning: under no circumstances should the lenses be removed from the cleaning container prematurely - there is a risk of chemical burns! On the other hand, these systems clean particularly thoroughly and contain no preservatives. Therefore they are also suitable for allergy sufferers. For soft lenses all-in-one-systems are also suitable. With these you can not only clean your lenses thoroughly but also wet them with moisture in between. Such a solution combines all the necessary cleaning steps - quickly and thoroughly. To remove protein deposits, you should also use a protein remover regularly. This is already included in some all-in-one systems.
Hard lenses require special contact lens care products. There are also all-in-one solutions and two-stage systems for hard lenses. The latter dissolve deposits such as protein, dirt, pollen or make-up with a hard lens cleaner. In a second step, the lens is rinsed and stored in a storage solution. You can also use this solution to clean or wet the lenses in between.
