AKILA frames are handcrafted from plant-based acetate and stainless steel with class 1 optical nylon lenses. Each model undergoes careful design, engineering and production processes to ensure that all eyewear meets the highest quality standards. Each pair of sunglasses takes over 90 days to produce and requires almost 100 steps from start to finish. Only first-class materials, e.g. cellulose acetate from Mazzucchelli, are used for the frames. Acetate is an excellent and environmentally friendly alternative to "normal" plastic. It allows a unique colour palette, which is different from conventional plastics.
