Max Mara at Mister Spex

In 1951 in Rome, the young lawyer Achille Maramotti founded the fashion label "Max Mara" from a small family tailors. With the idea of producing high-quality women's clothing in large quantities, success came quickly. Max Mara’s ideals were embodied from the very first collection: straight cuts influenced by French fashion and the traditional Italian style. Success was established quickly. The range grew gradually with Max Mara’s ideas. The collections became larger and new lines were developed. Max Mara understood, time and time again, how to harness great fashion talents who helped to develop the brand, including - amongst others - Karl Lagerfeld, Luciano Soprani, Narciso Rodriguez, Franco Moschino, D & G and Guy Paulin. In this way the company has spent nearly 60 years at the highest level of the fashion industry. During this time, unparalleled products have been created, such as the "101801" double-breasted woollen coat which was designed in 1981 and has been a part of almost every Max Mara Winter Collection since then.

Max Mara is now run by Luigi, Ignazio and Maria Ludovica Maramotti – the founder’s children. The brand still stands for clean tailoring and strict lines, the highest quality in production and true fashion reliability. The cooperation with different designers always provides fresh inspiration. The current fashion director is Laura Lusuardi. The collections’ products are sold through countless brand stores in more than 90 countries. Alongside ladies fashion the range now also includes men’s clothing and accessories. Other labels also stand alongside the main line. Max Mara’s trendy, youthful line is called Max & Co.
